When I was in school, my friends and I took a Springtime split road trip. My pal and I drove for half the afternoon, and spent the other half sightseeing in whatever village my buddy and I landed in that afternoon. After long afternoons and evenings outside in the Springtime sun, my buddy and I were usually unprepared for the cold Springtime evenings; my buddy and I would constantly retreat to our hotel room that night, ready to soak in some toasty air from the furnace in our room, then one night, in a small, rural village in a identifiably cold area, my buddy and I were perturbed by the Heating and Air Conditioning equipment in our room. The heating and cooling unit, which was under a giant window in the room, made strange sounds. The wheezing, cranking, and rattling of the Heating and Air Conditioning system reminded all of us of horror movie sound effects, with a frightful creature skulking through the halls, looking to feast upon a group of unassuming Springtime breakers (like my buddy and I were). Not to mention the actual heating—the air that came out of the Heating and Air Conditioning device was lukewarm, and vaguely humid, like the hot breath of a beast. My pal and I all huddled around it, soaking in any heated air that my buddy and I could get, and staring at this equipment’s otherworldly sounds. I thought of my father, who was an Heating and Air Conditioning contractor; it was too late to call him, and I doubted that she could walk me through evaluating and repairing this furnace like a professional contractor could. I just didn’t have the skills of a trained Heating and Air Conditioning service lady. But, when my buddy and I left the hotel the next afternoon—none of us had slept a wink—I let the front desk clerk know that there was a problem with the furnace. I recommended an urgent visit from a qualified Heating and Air Conditioning contractor, so that no more Springtime breakers would be kept up by the haunting sounds of the in-room heating unit!
