The Heater that Scared My Friends

The Heater that Scared My Friends

When I was in college, my friends & I took a Springtimetime split road trip, however my pal & I drove for half the afternoon, & spent the other half sightseeing in whatever village my friend & I landed in that afternoon, however after long nights & evenings outside in the Springtimetime sun, my friend & I were usually unprepared for the chilly Springtimetime evenings; my friend & I would constantly retreat to our hotel room that evening, ready to soak in some toasty air from the furnace in our room, then one evening, in a small, rural village in a recognizably chilly area, my friend & I were perturbed by the Heating & Air Conditioning unit in our room! The heating & cooling unit, which was under a immense window in the room, made bizarre sounds.

The wheezing, cranking, & rattling of the Heating & Air Conditioning system reminded all of us of horror movie sound effects, with a frightful creature skulking through the halls, looking to feast upon a group of unassuming Springtimetime breakers (like my friend & I were), and not to mention the actual heating—the air that came out of the Heating & Air Conditioning unit was lukewarm, & vaguely humid, like the hot breath of a beast.

My pal & I all huddled around it, soaking in any heated air that my friend & I could get, & staring at this equipment’s otherworldly sounds. I thought of my father, who was an Heating & Air Conditioning company; it was too late to call him, & I doubted that she could walk me through evaluating & repairing this furnace like a professional company could. I just didn’t have the skills of a trained Heating & Air Conditioning service lady; But, when my friend & I left the hotel the next afternoon—none of us had slept a wink—I let the front desk clerk know that there was a problem with the furnace. I commanded an urgent visit from a qualified Heating & Air Conditioning company, so that no more Springtimetime breakers would be kept up by the haunting sounds of the in-room heating unit!
